Can someone be cured of ADD?

Medication is a tool, not a cure for adult ADHD. ... Many people equate ADHD treatment with medication. But it's important to understand that medication for ADHD doesn't work for everyone, and even when it does work, it won't solve all problems or completely eliminate symptoms.

  • We provide correct accommodations
    • We seat the student with ADHD away from windows and away from the door
    • We put the student with ADHD right in front of teacher desk unless that would be a distraction for the student
    • We assign a quiet classroom free of distractions and noise for study
  • Instruction
    • Teacher gives instructions one at a time and repeat as necessary
    • Teacher work on the most difficult material early in the day
    • Teacher uses visuals: charts, pictures, color coding

What we do in class learning?

  • Teacher combine seeing, saying, writing and doing; student may need to subvocalize to remember
  • Teacher teaches memory techniques as a study strategy (e.g. mnemonics, visualization, oral rehearsal, numerous repetitions)
  • Teachers here reduce assignment length and strive for quality (rather that quantity)
  • Teacher increase the frequency of positive reinforcements (catch the student doing it right and let him know it)
  • Teacher provides student with copy of reading material with main ideas underlined or highlighted.
  • Teacher provides an outline of important points from reading material.
  • Teacher attempts to actively involve student in lesson (e.g. cooperative learning)
  • Teacher gives student frequent opportunities to get up and move around. Allow space for movement.
